The Power of Daily Yoga Practice

STEPPING ONTO YOUR MAT… EVERYDAY.

There is magic in yoga. Every time we rise from Savasana we pause to contemplate the same poignant question … why don’t I do this more often?  Our practice realigns us, connects us to ourselves, and reminds us of the importance of simply “being.” Most importantly, we leave feeling deeply happy and content: a feeling that can often be elusive in our day to day lives.

So why do we hesitate to give ourselves this joy? Why is it so easy to make excuses that keep us from our mat? Truth be told, it’s the days we struggle to motivate, that our practice often ends up being its richest. We find that yoga was just what we needed.

This is because practice goes beyond the benefits of the physical asanas or the reminder that movement and breath are keys to life. It is time designated as ours: sacred and crucial as we embrace the now to witness and observe openly, without judgment our own being. And in turn, we become more inclined to take actions that are truthful to our values and heed the voice of the heart.

As we emerge from our practice renewed to the world, this time with ourselves fosters a thoughtfulness, a kindness. One that extends to ourselves and others with loving compassion. Yes, we feel amazing from the physical practice but there is more. It’s the magical ingredient of “connection to ourselves” that makes stepping onto our mat the greatest choice we can make for ourselves.

So make a powerful and positive shift for yourself. And if not daily, then with the commitment of consistency, greet your practice so that you may begin each day with love, compassion and connectedness.
